Thinking leads to ignorance?
A church over in Shreveport, Louisiana recently decided to have an old fashioned book burning which was picked up by the local news.
Nothing new, really. Small Christian communities do it all the time here in the south it seems. In fact, there’s a church about 30 minutes north of here that should be doing it’s annual book burning any day now.
What I wanted to share was a quote by the guy who led it over on one of the news sites in response to a commenter.
Bless you…I am James the director. Now, Dixiechick, God’s rules are timeless…I do not think people are too stupid to think for themselves. But if they think for themselves they are choosing the path of least resistance that leads to ignorance and the Bible says God’s people perish for lack of knowledge. Then He sends people who love Him and His creation enough to wake them up. I love you!
Now, personally, I’d say the “path of least resistance” is actively choosing to not think for oneself. That’s how you end up truly ignorant. That’s how you end up standing around a fire watching, perhaps even participating, in the destruction of a book you probably haven’t even read but “know” is evil because your leader told you it was.
