Bi-religious priest gets the boot

Here’s something for the ‘can’t make this crap up’ file via CNN:

For nearly 30 years, Redding has been an ordained minister in the Episcopal Church. Her priesthood ended Wednesday when she was defrocked.

The reason? For the past three years Redding has been both a practicing Christian and a Muslim.

Redding apparently believes there’s no contradiction between being a leader in a religion that calls one being a god and a member of another religion that says ‘no he isn’t’.

Shall I pour soda on her bed?

Yesterday afternoon our daughter spilled a glass of soda on the floor and left it there while I was outside.

This has been an ongoing problem and to be honest, I was more than a little peeved about it.

I made her help clean things up and sent her to her room to pout about it for a bit as another thing she’s been told is that hitting people just because you’re mad is not acceptable.

What I should’ve done is walked up to the store, got a really big bottle of soda and poured it in her bed when I got back. And left it there.

Right?

I didn’t think so.

So, why in hell are people referring to an Iranian man being blinded for blinding an Iranian woman as “justice”? It’s not justice. It’s vengeance. What happened to the woman is horrible, but blinding him isn’t going to restore her sight nor will save other women from being attacked by men.

All it’s going to do is add another person to the population of blind people. That’s all. Well, that, and continue to promote the idea that the best way to solve pretty much any problem is through violence.

"Leave the land so we won’t rape you"

These are the words of an Egyptian lawyer named Nagla Al Imam in an interview where she, yes SHE, encourages Arabic men to sexually harass Israeli women and girls as a new form of resistance.

Why does she support such behaviour? Because “they [Israelis] violate our rights, and they rape the land”. She goes on to state that there are “few things” that “are as grave as the rape of the land”.

This apparently includes raping actual human women as Al Imam has also attacked a rape victim. Al Imam has apparently called the woman a liar and wants her deported for “unsettling Egyptian sentiments”.

Nagla Al Imam, a lawyer who initially voiced support for Rushdi, has also taken to the airwaves, claiming the young woman lied about her charges and argued that she is an Israeli and should be deported for “unsettling Egyptian sentiments”.

What makes this even worse is that Al Imam is also the head of a human rights organisation and when asked about her rationalization for supporting such a hateful, bigoted idea stated that it’s only fair that that Israeli women be treated as poorly as Arabic women.

Interviewer: As a lawyer, don’t you think this might expose Arab youth to punishment for violating laws against sexual harassment?

Nagla Al-Imam: Most Arab countries… With the exception of three or four Arab countries, which I don’t think allow Israeli women to enter anyway, most Arab countries do not have sexual harassment laws. Therefore, if [Arab women] are fair game for Arab men, there is nothing wrong with Israeli women being fair game as well.

The victimization of one group is okay since another group is also being victimized in the same manner? WTF? It’s so absurd it’s almost unbelievable. How can anyone think like this?

Hate. It boggles the mind, doesn’t it?

Just a friendly neighbourhood message from Kenneth Frock of Littlestown, New York.

The sign [which states 'I believe in gun control. I have a sharp eye and a steady trigger finger. All Muslems Burn in Hell'] sits in a front yard in Littlestown, Adams County aimed at gun control and Mulsims. Our CBS 21 News crew went to Littlestown and tracked down the homeowner, Kenneth Frock.

“It’s our right according to the constitution to have and bear arms and anyboyd who tries to take that away from me i’ll fight to the death,” says Frock. Frock believes greater gun control will be enforced by the new Obama administration. And believes Muslims out to do harm need to be stopped.

Meanwhile, the professional Christian set is up in arms about Humanists putting ads on the sides of buses that fail to mention how good they’d be if they should decide to shoot their neighbours.

What’s wrong with this picture?

The Jews banned pig from the menu and the Christians suggested self mutilation in order to escape offending themselves. So, what’s a Muslim to do?

Why state the devil uses his left hand to eat and drink with and thus forbid each other from eating and drinking with their respective left hands.

The first thing I thought of was my mother and her sister – both left-handers and both religious zealots. Not too sure about the sister who’d usually choose death over embarrassment, but if my mother was alive and Christianity made such a claim, I could see her sitting on her left hand. She did, after all, decide that any one who wasn’t a Baptist was plain evil after years of not liking Baptists because they called every one else evil.

Pat Robertson: Islam is not a religion

After an interview with Bernard Lewis about the “clash of civilizations” (aka: my god vs. your god) on the 700 Club, Pat Robertson went on to espouse that “Islam is not a religion”, but a “political system bent on world domination” that disguises itself as religion.

Methinks ole Pat is getting soft with age as anyone with half a brain should immediately realize that his description of Islam is, in fact, a near-perfect description of his own brand of Christianity. Even more amusing he ends by stating that we atheists should align ourselves with the likes of him because the big scary Muslims are worse than his kind. Isn’t this the first time Pat has implicitly admitted that his brand of Christianity is in fact a bad thing?

Saudi to behead woman for witchcraft

Fawza Falih Muhammad Ali has been sentenced to death by having her head cut off because a man accused her of making him impotent. Arrested in May, 2004 Fawza was held for 35 days in which she beaten to the point of having to receive medical care after one of the beatings.

Denied access to her lawyer, a confession was extracted which Fawza had to sign by thumbprint because she’s illiterate.

Her conviction was overturned by an appeals court, but another court has since decided to sentence her to death anyway for the “good of society”.

If you recall, Saudi has been in the news two other times recently for it’s crimes against women. The first time was when a rape victim was sentenced to a beating. The second happened quite recently when the Saudi religious police made a woman strip for meeting a man in the family section (women are segregated by law in Saudi society) of a Starbucks.

A 23 year old journalist was recently sentenced to death for blasphemy in what appears to be vengeance for his elder brother’s stance against local strongmen.

How’s that for freedom and democracy?
