Islam

The proof is in the beard

Cathy Adams of the Texas Eagle Forum has come up with a full proof way to find out if a man is a Muslim or not just by looking at him:

Yes. That’s right. If the man you’re wondering about has a beard, he’s a Muslim.

Here are some examples of Muslim men:

Feel free to leave examples of your own in the comments.

New Holiday in Saudi: Assault a Cashier?

They say King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia is the “women’s king” as he’s had some success in getting Saudi men to quit being such asses towards the women to some degree. One of his projects was to install women as cashiers in various places.

I wonder what he thinks about Abdullah Mohammad Al Dawood, a Saudi author of “self-help” books,  who has stated, that in order to protect the chasity of the women, men should sexually assault them.

A Saudi writer has urged his Twitter followers to sexually molest women hired to work as cashiers in big grocery stores, the latest backlash from conservatives who want to roll back limited social and economic reforms launched in Saudi Arabia.

His reasoning? Once upon time a particular asshat of a man did not want his wife to go to the local mosque to pray. She went anyway. So he hid behind something and when she walked by he jumped out and molested her. She went home and vowed to never leave the “safety” of her home again. And the asshat called it good.

Yep. A Man of God™ sexually assaulted a woman to keep her from going to the House of God® and this asshat says “this is a guy we should emulate”. A fucking rapist. Because he did it for God or some claptrap.

This apparently isn’t Dawood’s first time at the Shitlord Tournament. Not so long ago he declared that infant girls should be put in burqas to protect them from being sexually assaulted. Who the hell thinks like this (besides this jackass)?

What strikes me is how these kinds of men always say it’s because they don’t want Saudi to turn into The West™ . How the fuck is encouraging the sexual assault of women and blaming infants for being sexually assaulted even remotely “better” than this side of the planet?

Saudi Arabia should be referred to not as the Kingdom of Humanity, but the Kingdom of Dick because apparently as long as you have a [arab] penis you can do whatever you want and a metric fuckton of clerics will line up to blame everyone else.

Oh, they do huh?

Are you an American? Did you know that 1.5 billion people hate you? Yes, 1.5 billion people hate you. What did you do? Nothing. Besides being born. Oh, you may tolerate bacon, beer and gays too.  “They” hate you for that too when they’re not hating you for existing.

Just ask Chris Moran (heh) of Winter Haven who writes:

Whether it’s our love (or acceptance) of pork, alcohol, gays and Lesbians, or even co-educational classes, we are hated, and we haven’t even touched our religious beliefs yet.

[some blabbering about all the good we’ve done them despite their rampant hatred of all that is good and right (aka: America)]

So the truth is: Burn or don’t burn the Quran, the Muslims will still hate us for existing.

I suppose I can now start claiming that approximately 2 billion people hate me too.  My proof of this hatred? This guy. He’s a Christian and he’s against women’s rights. Ergo, 2 billion people hate me.

O’Donnell Aide: Obama “still” a Muslim

An aide to Christine O’Donnell seems to be a bit convinced that Obama has spent the last 20 or so years fabricating being a Christian and is, in fact, “still” a Muslim:

Moseley asserted that because Obama had recited to a reporter the Muslim call to prayer (which he apparently learned as a child in Indonesia) he must be a Muslim: “According to Islamic scholars, reciting this Muslim declaration of faith makes one a Muslim.” … Maintaining that Obama attended school in Indonesia as a Muslim, Mosely noted, “Once a Muslim, always a Muslim.”

Why does he think Obama would do such a thing? Taqiyya!:

Islamic teaching encourages strategic deception, when necessary, to advance Islam throughout the world. It is possible that a Muslim could intentionally pose as a convert, in a church that talked about Jesus as only a moral teacher, as Muslims already believe.

You can read the whole thing over at Mother Jones. It’s worth the click. Trust me.

The price for being an a-hole: $180K

The would-be Quran burner, Terry Jones, is looking at a huge bill from the Gainesville Police for the security they provided during his three ring circus:

The Gainesville Police Department said it spent more than $100,000 while the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office spent an estimated $80,000 during the weekend of the planned demonstration.

"We have 286 sworn officers and almost everyone was working either at the Dove Center or at other soft targets," Senn said. "Unless you were sick or injured you were working" the day the burning was to take place.

Not sure they can do this (it’s their job to respond to such situations, right?), but I can’t say that I’m put out too much by it.

Texas to Islam: We’re on to You!

The Texas Board of Education is back to meddling again.  The target this time is Islam.

Why?

Because a failure to paint Muslims as wild-eyed jihadists from the darkest and deepest pit of hell come to kill white Christians us all consitutes a country wide conspiracy to paint Islam as ‘good’ and Christianity as ‘bad’.

Or something like that:

The resolution states that pro-Islamic, anti-Christian half-truths, selective disinformation and false editorial stereotypes “still roil” some social studies textbooks nationwide, including “sanitized definitions of ‘jihad’ that exclude religious intolerance or military aggression against non-Muslims … which undergirds worldwide Muslim terrorism.”

The fact that the books they cite as evidence are not in use in Texas? The fact that Texas shapes what textbooks are made available to the other states?  Those don’t mean a thing because “Middle Easterners” are buying into companies that publish textbooks:

Members of the board’s social conservative bloc asked for the resolution after an unsuccessful candidate for a board seat called on the panel to head off any bias against Christians in new social studies books. Some contend that “Middle Easterners” are increasingly buying into companies that publish textbooks.

I wonder when they’re going to call for a resolution to ban the word “racism” from dictionaries made available to Texas schoolchildren.

9/11: No Muslims Anywhere

Not only is it “insensitive” for there to be an Islamic community center near the WTC site (never-mind that there was a prayer room in the WTC), it’s also apparently insensitive to show Muslims doing anything on or around 9/11:

The Portland Press Herald has apologized to its readers for publishing images of Muslims celebrating the end of Ramadan, which this year coincided with the 9/11 anniversary.

Noting that thousands of local Muslims marked a holy day peacefully near the anniversary of a day when a few Muslims committed a mass murder (whose victims included other Muslims) was apparently beyond the pale. The paper’s editor and publisher wrote: “We erred by at least not offering balance to the story and its prominent position on the front page.”

Balance, of course, would be including something along the lines of  “yeah, I know these Muslims look peaceful, but don’t forget that Muslims attacked us on 9/11/01”.

Can we finally call this anti-Muslim hysteria the hatefest that it is?

Anti-Park 51 Protesters speak

Listening to these people speak reminds me of the things I’ve heard or read about Jews, we atheists, feminist women and people of colour over the years.

I don’t know how the guy managed to record any of this without getting visibly pissed off.

I would’ve had to leave by the time I got to the woman that implied there’s a secret interpretation of Arabic that’s hidden from us non-Arabic speakers.
