While much ado is being made about the overwhelming support of prop 8 by black voters in California, there is little ado being made about getting even with the Mormons (aka: that huge group of white people who donated $20 million to passing Prop 8 ) for seeing to it that gay Californians lost their right to marry.
These bigots should not be ignored and they shouldn’t get to avoid the consequences of their handiwork. We simply should not patronize businesses who turn around and use the money we give them to attack the rights and privileges of ourselves or others.
So, with that in mind, meet Brent Andrus of the Huntington Hotel Group who donated $20K in support of the proposition (via Stop All Monsters):
You know where that $20K came from. It came from everyone who’s ever stayed in the hotels owned by Andrus’s company. Californians Against Hate also have a list of people and organizations who funded Prop 8 and here’s another list I found on Snopes.
ETA: My reponse to claims that I’m “anti-Mormon” and that this post is an example of a hate crime against Mormons can be found here.
