If so, you may want to check out Referrer Detector, a plug-in for WordPress. What does it do?

Once a page on your site is submitted to a social media site every one who arrives to that page from a link on that site is greeted with a customizable message encouraging them to up vote your page if they think it’s worth sharing.

I’ve only had it installed and operating for a few days now and I’m already seeing a slight change in the traffic. Where most of my traffic has come from Stumblers, I’m now seeing Diggers and whatever people who use delicious are called showing up more often than they have in the past.

Of course, it helps if you have a convenient way for your readers to submit your site to begin with and for that I recommend ShareThis. I know. I no longer have ShareThis installed, but I have a perfectly valid reason for recommending it.

My theme is Thesis and thanks to SugarRae, I was able to customize it to display links to social sites without needing a plug-in nor having to dig through theme files.

And with that, I bid you good day (or night).

So, here it is. It’s called Firebug. Bright isn’t it? And if you’re thinking about complaining about the brightness, keep in mind you came exceedingly close to getting an extremely large dose of purple. Not a little purple nor a single shade of purple. Multiple shades of purple, screen edge to screen edge.

But, fortunately for you, I couldn’t get some aspects of that theme to work so I deleted it.

I’m now using my given name on my posts. I put it on my about page a while ago but then forgot to change the display in WordPress. The skull gravatar is remaining however. Speaking of gravatars, this theme actually displays theme correctly. Maybe it was just me, but they looked pretty weird on the other theme after I updated the theme not long ago.

I also changed the tagline and moved the description over to the sidebar. I’m still working on the sidebars, but otherwise nothing else has changed and won’t until I get bored with this theme (or get the purple one to work ) and move on to a new one.

Earlier this year I signed up for Intense Debate (ID), but never got around to installing it here. Now one of my favourite blogs has installed it so I figured what the hell and installed it this morning. The last 500 or so comments have been imported. The rest weren’t imported and won’t be shown unless I take out ID.

Some of the imported comments look stupid as the styling codes were imported as part of the comments themselves, but there appears to be no way to change that so they’re just going to remain stupid looking. Blame ID, not me.

The biggest change is that the comments are now threaded and you can reply to specific comments instead of having to rely on “@whoever” and the like. To me, that’s the best thing about ID as I’ve been looking for a way to have threaded comments for a while now but only found plug-ins that, to put it mildly, made pulling my teeth out with a pair of tweezers seem easy and painless.

Any questions?

UPDATE: Well, that was short lived. Got a msg that the tabs were missing from the sidebar and after some poking around I discovered that ID’s what caused them to disappear. So, until I figure out to get the tabs & ID to work together, no more ID for my blog.

As you can tell I’ve went and changed themes again and thought I’d let you all know what’s changed. The things that have changed:

The Feedburner feed is now a short version due to the requirements of a couple of new services I’ve recently signed up with. If you are subscribed to the FB feed but prefer the long feed, it is still available. The URL for the long version is:

http://bligbi.com/feed

I’ve currently got the Atheist Blogroll by Mojoey on it’s own page as it’s rather large now. I’d like to return it to the main page as a dropdown list as well as convert my other rolls to the same. If anyone knows how to do that, could you let me know how it’s accomplished?

The contact form has changed due to an influx of a-holes lately. You can still use a fake email address, but clicking ’send message’ is now a great way to let me know your IP address.

What’s New:

There’s now a blogroll for commenters. If you comment with enough regularity and have a site it’ll be listed there even if it’s listed in another place. If I happen to overlook you, don’t take it personally. Just let me know and I’ll get on it.

The new theme supports gravatars which are available here. All you need is a valid email address, preferably the one you use for commenting.

Some things you may like:

If you use WordPress as I do, here are some things you may want to look into:

Comment Policy: A nifty little plugin that you can use to direct commenters to your comment policy or the like. It puts a checkbox at the end of the comment form that must be checked before the comment can be submitted.

Contact Form: A contact plug-in that logs the IP address of the sender and allows the sender to send a copy of the email to themselves.

Zelig Dropdown Cats: A plugin that allows you to turn your categories into a dropdown menu with ease.

Global Translator: An opensource plug-in that lets you choose which translations you want to provide to readers.

XHTML Sitemap: Google suggests it, Chris Pearson makes it possible and rather easy.
