when I wish I could shoot lightening bolts at people.

Today is one of them.

Reason? Well, I just read an opinion piece that takes the gold, silver and bronze metal when it comes to loathing Hillary Clinton.

She would never be content to be vice president. She’d be plotting against him from day one. She’d put poison in his tea.

I’ve seen this Hillary as Murderous Harridan sentiment in several places in the last week and I’m beyond disgusted. It’d be one thing if it was just Republicans like Noonan saying this shit (they are, after all, the ones who started the slanderous lie that Hillary had Vince Foster murdered), but it isn’t.

Various bloggers and diarists who are firmly planted on the Obama wagon have approvingly linked to this specific piece so let’s cut the bullshit and be blunt about what’s being said:

Hillary Clinton will murder the president if given the position of vice president.

Even more galling is some of the sites that link to this piece have also declared that Hillary Clinton needs to apologize for acting like a Republican.

I dunno about you, but the the last time I checked, “acting like a Republican” includes making unbelievably vile accusations such as the above.

It’s total bullshit. The article in question (available here for $1.50) is little more than Catholic Apology 101. The source of the cherry-picked phrases in an appropriate colour:

Sincerely motivated Christians studying the same texts have disagreed on the fundamentals of the faith, thereby dividing not only Protestants from Catholics, but also particular Protestant denominations from each other. Post-Reformation history does not reflect the unity and harmony of the “one flock” instituted by Christ (Jn. 10:16; see also Jn. 17:11, 17:21-23; Acts 4:32; Eph. 4:3-6, 4:13; Rom. 12:5, 16:17-18; 1 Cor. 1:10-11, 3:4, 12:12-13; Phil. 1:27, 2:2), but rather a scandalous series of divisions and new denominations, including some that can hardly be called Christian. Yet Christ would not have demanded unity without providing the necessary leadership to maintain it. The same Catholic Church which infallibly determined the canon of the Bible must be trusted to interpret her handiwork; the alternative is to trust individual Christians, burdened with, as Calvin termed it, their “utterly depraved” minds, to overcome their tendency to rationalize, their selfish desires, and other effects of original sin. The choice is between Catholicism’s authoritative Magisterium and subjective interpretation which leads to anarchy and heresy.

I have to agree with Jindal on this. His essay was distorted and distorted for the most despicable reason – bigotry. The south has a lot of problems. Hatred of religious minorities is one of them. Guess who’s the majority in the South? Protestants. The Democratic party ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Dean Howard wants Democratic politicians to woo the Christian right with their “values” because ‘we’ Democrats have a lot in common with them. Funny, I don’t count doing one’s best to ensure one group of Americans remain second-class citizens and trying to strip another group of Americans of our rights a “value”. I call it it a well spun lie that covers up the actual belief that white straight male Christians are our rightful masters that occasionally gets aired for all the people to see:

Bill O’Reilly: But do you understand what the New York Times wants, and the far-left want? They want to break down the white, Christian, male power structure, which you’re a part, and so am I, and they want to bring in millions of foreign nationals to basically break down the structure that we have. In that regard, Pat Buchanan is right. So I say you’ve got to cap with a number.

And what are some things that “break down the white Christian male power structure”? Gay rights, women’s rights, the rights of people of colour and perhaps the most import nut buster – the separation of church(es) and state. You can’t woo these people without doing away with these things and doing away with them would make the Democratic party useless.

FAITH, n. Belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge, of things without parallel. – Devil’s Dictionary

The Democrats are again trying to court American faith supremacists in their race for the American presidency. What is a faith supremacist? It’s a person who believes that faith is superior be it explicitly or implicitly. The right is full of the explicit kind. The left is full of the implicit kind. They’re the ones who write books, articles and blogs about how they and their brethren are being completely rational when they threaten to vote against their alleged values because of the lack of respect their ‘faith’ gets from people with the same alleged values.

The sad thing is we’re all so used to them that we hardly think to question their adherence to their so called values. Take a post by A Guy in the Pew for example in response to the news about the faith forum (emphasis added):

As I have said before, I think that there is an opportunity for Democrats to attract a larger share of the Evangelical vote. the goal is not to attract the religious left–they already vote for Democrats. Nor is the goal to attract the single-issue abortion or anti-gay voters–they will not leave the Republican Party except in the rarest of circumstances. Instead, the goal is to attract the significant minority of Evangelical and Catholic voters who will be attracted by other issues.

Other issues? What other issues? The rights of women, people of colour and homosexuals? Global warming? Poverty? The fundy war on science and reality based sex education? Access to medical care for the working poor? Livable wages? Are these new found issues they were previously unaware of? Or – more likely – issues they claim to support at the dinner table but refuse to vote for because they got their belief in a two thousand year old zombie crucified at the water cooler?

If it’s the former, they’re bloody idiots if they managed to not notice that all these things have been major issues for years now. If it’s the latter – well they are unbelievable hypocrites who deserve far more than mere mockery over their silly little belief in risen dead men. They should be called hypocrites who are not deserving of the slightest ounce of respect they demand be theirs by default. Ask yourself something for me.

Would you actually cast a vote for someone who actively works to destroy the things you support because someone said your dog was stupid? That’s what these people do all the time. They claim to support racial and gender equality, gay rights, environmental measures, access to medical care for all Americans, solid educations and a mess of other things they say their faith informs them about – then insist they can’t/won’t vote for anyone who doesn’t respect their ‘faith’. Instead they cast their vote for the people who stand against all the things they claim to support when they’re whining about being mocked because that person publicly courts their unbelievable egos.

Hypocrites each and every one. I say let the Republicans keep them because lets face it – the Republican party is being eaten alive by the ‘people of faith’. We Democrats have enough problems without bringing their hypocrisy into it.

Mr. Reid, Mr. Hoyer, and the other Democrats… have failed us.

They negotiated away that which they did not own, but had only been entrusted by us to protect: our collective will as the citizens of this country, that this brazen War of Lies be ended as rapidly and safely as possible.

They’ve also turned his preferred vice (smoking) into a national incident (video) and have even questioned if he was “black enough” (video).

Fox News has a well established extremely anti-Democrat bias which is not to be confused with being reasonably critical that makes it unfit to be a sponsor of a democratic debate.

I encourage everyone to sign the petition at MoveOn.

Several days ago an anonomous person released an clip from a performance given by Kinky Friedman a little over 26 years ago. The clip has Kinky making a reference to white Houstonians drowning bowling balls at sea under the impression they were nigger eggs. Anybody who’s anybody here in Texas politics is screaming like stuck pigs.

Kinky said the N-Word!!!
Kinky said the N-Word!!!
Kinky said the N-Word!!!
Kinky said the N-Word!!!
Kinky said the N-Word!!!

It would be laughable if it wasn’t so sad. While I agree that Kinky has said things that are at least questionable, this just isn’t one of them. The only people being slammed in that comment were white people. It was white people who said black people were “hatched” not born. It was white people who threw fits that would make a napless two year old who just downed a bag of chocolates look on in sheer awe if black people or things related to black people got anywhere near their lily white arses. And this included drowning bowling balls because they looked like “nigger eggs”.

That’s what Kinky was talking about. Kinky, a white man, was addressing white racism and he was calling white racists dumbasses. But which one of the Bell supporters are talking about that? Hmm? How many have actually responded to Kinky’s statement regarding this? Besides to whine about how he hasn’t apologized for something that was taken completely out of context by them while “attacking” them”?

But, what’s more galling is that black leaders are participating in this stunt. We’re talking about lawyers, doctors and all manner of professionals who damned well know exactly what Kinky was talking about and should know from personal experience that the only time people of colour are of any real importance to the Democratic Party is when the Dems are down in the polls and ‘got nothin’. Sort of what they do with us women, ya know?

Let me put it this way. The going joke about Chris Bell’s campaign is “Chris who?” Now, thanks to this “shocking” discovery – guess which candidate is up in the polls? Well? At least try! Oh, alright. Chris “Who me?!? Of course not!!!” Bell. I bet you a Dr. Pepper that you didn’t see that one coming, eh?

Snarkiness aside, what our black leaders need to be doing, along with every other leader of colour is exposing this fraud for what it is. A shameless ploy to get their boy’s name in the paper in hopes that come election day we’ll think “Bell: Good, Perry: Bad, Granny: Badder, Kinky: Evil Bastard Spawn of Satan”.

Shame on the Democratic Party and shame on any person of colour who is helping them in this.
