Comment Policy
Here’s the official comment policy for posting to this blog:
All initial comments are moderated. If you’re a first time commenter your initial post is held in comment limbo. I’m usually in the vicinity of my computer during the day so it shouldn’t take more than 10 or 15 minutes for it to be approved but a couple of hours shouldn’t be considered unusual. Initial comments posted late in the evening or overnight will probably not show up until early to late morning.
Yes, I require an email address & no, that’s not going to change. I believe that requiring an email address has cut down on the number of trolls as the last thing a troll usually wants to do is ‘own’ their remarks. Your email is not used for anything else nor will it published. If you’re worried about spam, do consider getting a free email address for the purpose of blog commenting.
I will not tolerate abusive comments. This means if you’ve got the urge to do little more than assail my character or the character of another, your comment will be deleted on sight without warning or explanation.
Sexism/Racism and/or apologetics for either is immediate grounds for deletion. This means you will not use this blog’s comment section to attack women or people of colour nor will you be allowed to defend sexist/racist behaviour . There are no exceptions so don’t even bother with the “I’m a woman/POC and I approve this message” shtick.
So what does it mean to be “apologetic” about sexism/racism? Glad you asked. It means posting comments about how women/POC are too sensitive, reactionary, crazy, stupid, ignorant, humourless and so on and so forth whenever either subject comes up. Not only are these personal attacks which are also grounds for deletion they are common defenses of racism/sexism.
What if I don’t like it that you won’t put up with the above bullshit and think you’re being a big meanie? Your cries of censorship, persecution and free countries will be ignored. You can also whine, rant and threaten to run home to your mommy all you damn well want. Tell her I said you need slapped in the head and sent to your room without dessert when you get there.
Religious apologists and would-be converters beware. Comments consisting of little more than attempts to convert me will be deleted. Comments containing nothing more than quotes from your holy book will be deleted. Comments containing northing more than copied and pasted apologetic work will be deleted. Comments containing nothing more than sermons (or whatever your religion calls them) will be deleted.
If you still want to post comments, here are some ways to escape the delete button:
- Stay on topic to the best of your ability.
- Address what’s being said, not what you feel like addressing.
- No religious speak (see warning for apologists above for what’s considered religious speak).
- Do not feed any trolls that get by the delete button.
