Forgive us Papa Huck, for we know not what we do
When it comes to patronizing bullshit, it’s hard to beat clown car member Mike Huckabee. In an interview on Meet the Press, Papa Huck decided to share his opinion that women caught terminating pregnancies after the banning of such would not be arrested in The United States of Huck because such women would be “victims” under Huck law. The doctor, however, being a money hungry man, would be sanctioned at the very least.
There’s just so much that’s wrong with this sentiment. First there’s the idea that all abortions are performed by greedy men. Papa Huck apparently did not get the memo that it is us feminists who hate men.
The overriding idea though is that being a woman means being insurmountably stupid or at the very least - being able to put on the face of sheer ignorance as demanded.
Consider for a moment the idea of sanctioning bartenders. A lot of people support the idea of sanctioning bartenders who sell alcohol to obviously drunk people. Imagine for a moment that someone was pushing for sanctions against bartenders for selling beer to any of age adult who requests one because requesting a beer means you’re already drunk. Who would stand for such an absurdity?
This happens to be what’s at the heart of sanctioning abortion providers. They do not want such providers sanctioned for performing abortions on women who are in a state that makes them incapable of rendering reasonable consent. They want them sanctioned because they perform abortions on able minded women because, by definition, requesting an abortion means one is not capable of giving reasonable consent.
The reason one cannot give reasonable consent is that one is a woman and is thus not as intelligent as a man. Men, unlike women, know that having an abortion puts an abrupt and terminal end to a pregnancy. Women, on the other hand, don’t even seem to have a grasp on how one becomes pregnant, much less what happens when a pregnancy is terminated by any other means but birth.
For example, Jamie Lynn Spear’s comment on her pregnancy was essentially “I don’t know how it happened”. It may be total bullshit, but it’s how we responded that’s telling. No one’s head snapped back at such a sign of sheer ignorance, even if faked. In fact, we expected her to say that. It’s a part of the “good girl” routine to not know where babies come from. And we want her to model this ignorance to our daughters, and by default - to our sons as they will grow up with our daughters. One is being taught to be stupid and the other is being taught to expect it.
Furthermore, these sanctions are the equivalent to some degree of putting up “Slow - Children Playing” signs in the neighbourhood and again enforces the idea that women, at least good ones, are stupid. Why do we put them up? We put them up because children are stupid and we want to protect them from that stupidity. So we tell drivers to slow down and be alert so that they can avoid maiming or killing a child.
What makes it worse is that while we realize that those same kids will grow up and probably quit riding their trikes into the street, we do not extend this to females - especially as it relates to our wants, desires and needs. This is especially true should those wants, desires and needs differ from the social role fostered upon us. We’re all supposed to want to grow up, find our knight in shining armor and settle down into having a house full of little knights and princesses.
Now make no mistake - Mrs. Knight is just as stupid as the rest of us, but those of us who reject the title of Mrs. Knight or anything it represents are especially stupid. So stupid in fact, that the men must pass laws to protect us from ourselves and those black knights who would take advantage of our inherent stupidity to turn us from our “natural” role of Mommy.
This is what the sanctions are about. It’s not about women who’ve actually been manipulated into aborting. It’s about women being stupid “by nature”, about putting down a rebellion and ultimately severely restricting the rights of all women.

I’m leaving this comment after Huckabee has been declared the winner of Iowa’s Republican caucuses. We’re talking about the so-called heartland of our country, f’cryinoutloud.
I’m embarrassed to be an American today.
