Warren lies about Prop 8 support

Rick Warren must still be smarting from the outrage Obama provoked when he chose the despicable jackass to speak at his inauguration as he is still lying about his support for prop 8.

Warren on CNN last night:

WARREN: Larry, there was a story within a story that never got told. In the first place, I am not an anti-gay or anti-gay marriage activist. I never have been, never will be.

During the whole Proposition 8 thing, I never once went to a meeting, never once issued a statement, never — never once even gave an endorsement in the two years Prop 8 was going.

Rick Warren’s video of himself endorsing Prop 8:

In the video Warren is shown talking about how four guys overthrew the will of the people thus forcing the need for proposition 8.  Warren then makes it a point to say this:

“Now let me just say this really clearly. We support proposition 8.  And if you believe what the bible says about marriage, you need to support proposition 8.”

If it looks like an endorsement and sounds like an endorsement, shouldn’t we call it an endorsement?

Warren was not finished though.  He went on to say that he was also lied about when some of us brought up his comparison of marriage equality for gay people to paedophilia and incest.

Warren stated:

There were some things said that — you know, everybody should have 10 percent grace when they say public statements. And I was asked a question that made it sound like I equated gay marriage with pedophilia or incest, which I absolutely do not believe. And I actually announced that.

Here is Warren in another interview conducted by Steven Waldman of BeliefNet:

Rick Warren: But the issue to me is, I’m not opposed to that as much as I’m opposed to the redefinition of a 5,000-year definition of marriage. I’m opposed to having a brother and sister be together and call that marriage. I’m opposed to an older guy marrying a child and calling that a marriage. I’m opposed to one guy having multiple wives and calling that marriage.

Steven Waldman: Do you think, though, that they are equivalent to having gays getting married?

Rick Warren: Oh I do.  …

And you know what the sad and horrible thing is? It’s quite possible that Warren doesn’t actually believe the shit that’s come out of his mouth.  He could just be in it for the money, the attention or whatever it is he’s chasing after.

Prolife activist keeps it classy

You may have heard of the plane crash in Montana that resulted in the deaths of 14 people, seven of which were children.  A pro-life activist by the name of Gingi Edmonds wrote this press release in response.

…The family who died in the crash near the location of the abortion victim’s memorial, is the family of Irving ‘Bud’ Feldkamp, owner of the largest for-profit abortion chain in the nation.

The plane went down on Sunday, killing two of Feldkamp’s daughters, two sons-in-law and five grandchildren along with the pilot and four family friends. The plane, a single-engine turboprop flown by Bud Summerfield of Highland, crashed into the Catholic cemetery and burst into flames, only 500 ft. from its landing destination. All aboard were killed.

We warned him, for his children’s sake, to wash his hands of the innocent blood he assisted in spilling because, as Scripture warns, if "you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you". (Ezekiel 35:6)

I don’t want to turn this tragic event into some creepy spiritual ‘I told you so’ moment, but I think of the time spent outside of Feldkamp’s – Pam Feldkamp laughing at the fetal development signs, Bud Feldkamp trying not to make eye contact as he got into his car with a small child in tow – and I think of the haunting words, ‘Think of your children.’ I wonder if those words were haunting Feldkamp as well as he stood in the snow among the remains of loved ones, just feet from the ‘Tomb of the Unborn’?

Translation: My god killed this man’s family – even the children – for being involved in something I and those like me disapprove of.  Want yours to be next?

E-Harmony: Atheists are Cheaters

According to an E-Harmony advice piece, these are the people most likely to cheat on their significant others:

Those who crave excitement

Those who are not religious

Those who have a history of divorce, sexual abuse or such psychological problems as depression or bipolar disorder.

I bore pretty easily and happen to be an atheist on my second marriage with a history of abuse dating back to early childhood.  Yet, I’ve somehow managed to never cheat on any of my partners over the years.

I have, however, about laughed myself silly at a man who swore his pastor had given him permission to cheat on his wife after I dropped his ass upon discovering he was married.

Pope: Condoms contribute to African AIDS Epidemic

His Holiness decided to share this gem with the planet:

“You can’t resolve it [the AIDS epidemic in Africa] with the distribution of condoms,” the pope told reporters aboard the Alitalia plane headed to Yaounde. “On the contrary, it [the use of condoms] increases the problem.”

He also stated that the Roman Catholic Church is at the forefront in combating AIDS.

SyFy?

The Sci-Fi Channel, having managed to cancel practically every show it’s ever run that could be considered science fiction, has decided to rebrand itself as “SyFy”.

What would possess them to change their name to this silly word? They really dislike their base (well at least the base they acknowledge):

“The name Sci Fi has been associated with geeks and dysfunctional, antisocial boys in their basements with video games and stuff like that, as opposed to the general public and the female audience in particular,” said TV historian Tim Brooks, who helped launch Sci Fi Channel when he worked at USA Network. (source)

They don’t like science fiction either as it doesn’t jive with fantasy.

“If you ask people their default perceptions of Sci Fi, they list space, aliens and the future,” he added. “That didn’t capture the full landscape of fantasy entertainment: the paranormal, the supernatural, action and adventure, superheroes.” (source)

I was talking to my husband a couple of days ago about cancelling part of our cable package as the kid now watches PBS & the only thing we really watch on the higher channels is BSG, which ends this week. The choice just got a lot easier to make.

Vatican defends excommunication in Brazil

The Vatican has decided to weigh in on the excommunication of the child rape victim’s mother and doctors in Brazil:

A senior Vatican cleric has defended the excommunication of the mother and doctors of a nine-year-old girl who had an abortion in Brazil after being raped.

Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, head of the Catholic church’s Congregation for Bishops, told the daily La Stampa on Saturday that the twins the girl had been carrying had a right to live.

"It is a sad case but the real problem is that the twins conceived were two innocent persons, who had the right to live and could not be eliminated," he said.

And as usual, being angry at a group that is so misogynistic it would force a nine year old child to carry a pregnancy to term if the state didn’t interfere is “unjustified”:

Re, who also heads the Pontifical Commission for Latin America, added: "Life must always be protected, the attack on the Brazilian church is unjustified."

Unless the life in need of protection is indisputably female, then it is unworthy of protection.

The girl’s rapist, said to be her stepfather who’s currently in jail, will not be expelled:

He also said the accused stepfather would not be expelled from the church. Although the man allegedly committed "a heinous crime … the abortion – the elimination of an innocent life – was more serious".

It frakking boggles the mind that trying to save a child’s life due to a crime committed against the child by an adult is “more serious” than the “heinous crime” of raping a child.

Church excommunicates child rape victim’s mother

The Catholic church is still shining it’s ass about the nine year old rape victim’s abortion which a lawyer for the church recently referred to as murder. They’ve now stated that they’ve excommunicated the girl’s mother and others over it:

A Brazilian archbishop says all those who helped a child rape victim secure an abortion are to be excommunicated from the Catholic Church. The girl, aged nine, who lives in the north-eastern state of Pernambuco, became pregnant with twins.

It is alleged that she had been sexually assaulted over a number of years by her stepfather. The excommunication applies to the child’s mother and the doctors involved in the procedure.

And some people wonder why it’s so easy to hate the Catholic church. This is why. It is fucked in the head when it comes to issues related to sex and will always fall on the side of insanity on this issue.

Dole staffer explains Godless ad

Back in October of last year then senator of North Carolina Elizabeth Dole was behind in the polls and did what any Republican politician would do in her spot.  She went on the attack.

Her method of attack was to ‘expose’ the fact that she had caught her challenger Kay Hagan not just associating with atheists, but taking money from atheists.  After a press release failed to garner much, if any, attention, she and her crew decided to release what’s become known as the Godless ad (viewable here).

You’re doing it wrong, Texas

bear When a man admits that he did in fact use his position as county sheriff to rape a woman, you put them in jail ASAP.

You do not let them enjoy a three month break between admitting guilt and being imprisoned just as he threatened his victim with if she didn’t comply!!  I don’t care if his wife hasn’t left his ass nor do I care how many relatives he has in the area!  Rapists do not get vacations between admitting guilt and going to jail for it.  They get cells.

(via Shakesville & Female Impersonator)

A former North Texas sheriff pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to sexually assaulting a woman, telling her sex was the only way to avoid going to jail for drug possession.

Former Montague County Sheriff Bill Keating, 62, faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He will be sentenced in May for the civil rights violation.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert K. Roach did not detain Keating, saying he did not pose harm to the community and wasn’t a flight risk because of his family ties to the area. But Roach ordered Keating, who recently surrendered his Texas peace officer’s license, to hand over his weapons and meet other conditions. (source)

And just for the damned record: Sex with anyone who is not in a position to give consent for any reason whatsoever is rape.  Bill Keating is a rapist.  Full. Fucking. Stop.
