The devastating fires in Australia have claimed the lives of nearly 200 people and scorched over 900 thousand acres. What’s a pastor to do in the midst of such a tragedy?
If you’re Danny Nalliah, the leader of the unfortunately named Catch the Fire Ministries, you channel Jerry Falwell and declare the situation to be punishment from God:
“In my dream I saw fire everywhere with flames burning very high and uncontrollably. With this I woke up from my dream with the interpretation as the following words came to me in a flash from the Spirit of God.
That His conditional protection has been removed from the nation of Australia, in particular Victoria, for approving the slaughter of innocent children in the womb.”
Thousands of people have been left homeless and/or injured by the fires that have ravaged Victoria. People are mourning the loss of friends, families, pets and property.
Entire towns have disappeared. The emotional toll is probably beyond comprehension for many of us. It’s going to take Victoria and it’s residents years to recover from the devastation.
And this fuckwit looks across the land and decides that it’s a good time to attack pro-choice women and the men who support us.
Is it possible to be a worse (or better?) asshole than this guy?

Just thought this was worth a quick comment, since I’m a Christian (though often an ‘anti-Christian’ Christian, if you catch my drift), and also a firefighter (not in Vic)…
I really wanted to say that you couldn’t have put it better – this guy is a complete fuckwit. The rage I felt when I heard about this was immense and it’s not really subsiding. Fucking asshole.

Slumdog danny nalliah should tell the people who are the victims of the fires to their face that its all gods fault.
And he should tell god that its his fault too.

I think Nalliah’s catch-cry must be “Every cloud has a golden opportunity”.
What the media have not reported though is that his dream, as noted on his website last November, was actually about a shooting rampage then fire. He seems to have forgotten about the shootings in this week’s re-telling of the dream. One can only ponder why he’d forget such an important part of his prophecy?

I’m a survivor, my disgust and fury toward this ridiculous little man is beyond words. I am a Christian, this pathetic excuse for a human being is not. My way of thinking he’s an extremist who hides behind the cloak of religion, claiming God speaks to him and advises that destruction and devastation of this magnitude is basically payback.
I personally will spit in Danny’s face if comes within distance of me. I’ve lost people in these fires and others are still under threat.
God give us strength, and may the Pastor receive all that he truly deserves. What a silly little man.
Danny the dunce, this horrible lttle man is probably one of the arsonists responsible for the fires, as a christian I apologise profusely for this servant of satan.

This guy didn’t even answer my questions. There is nothing worse than getting an answer to questions you didn’t ask. One of the things I asked was
“How do you explain the reason for the bushfires to people who have lost everything?” I am completely convinced that if there was an award for fruit cakes then this guy would win it. This guy is clearly one of those people who think they don’t owe anyone an explination about anything.
