The best thing about Obama winning?

cat_laptop Watching the hate machine devour itself.  It’s fucking hilarious.

Here’s another article over at Alternet about what’s been going on since McCain lost.  Fox “news” is trying to disown the lynch mob it created and the Freepers are planning to boycott Fox over the disowning.

McCain’s inner circle is trying to blame everything on Sarah Palin, much to the rage of every right wing blogger on the planet with one of them calling for the political shunning of the McCain people behind it all.

Yes, I’m aware that Obama said something about being everyone’s president and some other conciliatory things.  Good for him.  I’m not the president.  I don’t have to pretend to like people who have made it their mission to destroy everything I hold dear.

To be fair, Palin probably *is* one of the major reasons McCain lost.

I’m fairly liberal so I pretty much would never vote conservative anyway, but until Palin entered the scene, McCain was just another conservative in my eyes. I prefered Obama over him on principle but never really did much research in to it (I know, I’m terrible).

But after Palin started being… well, Palin, I looked more into McCain’s policies, history, character etc… and it pretty much sealed the deal for me. I strongly disagree with McCain on most issues, but he’s just another politician in many ways; Palin was a trainwreck. The very thought that McCain died in office and left her in charge is one that I’m sure we’ll be using to scare each other around the campfire in months/years to come.

I was already an Obama fan; McCain’s pick of Palin just solidified that for me. But for many undecided voters, Palin *had* to have been a main reason for voting Obama. All of the fundie crowd would’ve been voting McCain on principle anyway, Palin didn’t really “secure” their vote, all she did was alienate any on-the-fencers.
I find it amusing that now, after the election is over, the McCain team can finally admit that they made a mistake. And then the more hardcore conservatives rally to the support of the person who most likely lost them the election.

On a more on topic note… yes, the reaction to Obama’s win on many conservative sites is pretty fun to watch. My own preference for viewing conservative idiocy is conservapedia, and their reaction was pretty hilarious to watch. They’re a conservative wikipedia (who claim to be “unbiased”, but their pages for Richard Dawkins and Evolution have pictures of Hitler on them for example), and they didn’t update their page on Obama to indicate that he won the election until several days after he won etc… (and are still calling him a communist, marxist, socialist, non-american muslim)

    It’s great fun.
