Earlier this year I signed up for Intense Debate (ID), but never got around to installing it here. Now one of my favourite blogs has installed it so I figured what the hell and installed it this morning. The last 500 or so comments have been imported. The rest weren’t imported and won’t be shown unless I take out ID.
Some of the imported comments look stupid as the styling codes were imported as part of the comments themselves, but there appears to be no way to change that so they’re just going to remain stupid looking. Blame ID, not me.
The biggest change is that the comments are now threaded and you can reply to specific comments instead of having to rely on “@whoever” and the like. To me, that’s the best thing about ID as I’ve been looking for a way to have threaded comments for a while now but only found plug-ins that, to put it mildly, made pulling my teeth out with a pair of tweezers seem easy and painless.

UPDATE: Well, that was short lived. Got a msg that the tabs were missing from the sidebar and after some poking around I discovered that ID’s what caused them to disappear. So, until I figure out to get the tabs & ID to work together, no more ID for my blog.

Thanks for the mention. Sorry to hear that you have having trouble with IntenseDebate. I have not needed their support yet, but it is supposed to be excellent. This was actually one of the main reasons I went with them.
