If I’ve heard it once, I’ve heard it a million times. Atheism has no morality. It’s a materialist position that, combined with evolution, will cause death and ruin where ever it appears. In the grand scheme of things atheism reduces the importance of the Holocaust, making it no worse than stomping on a roach.
In short, it’s pure evil.
The right thing, of course, is not just plain theism. It’s “God” and in America, God is Jesus of Nazareth, the one and only begotten son of God and the ultimate get out of jail free card.
The problem with that card is that you never actually go to jail. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done. As long as you’ve got that card, you will never see the inside of a prison. That card is a permanent feature in Christianity and has no expiration date nor exclusions. Every Christian gets one and it covers every crime one can imagine and then some.
The only punishment for criminal and/or immoral Christians happens right here on this planet in their respective life times. Once a Christian drops dead, that’s it. There’s no trial, no judgment and no punishment for anything they may have done in their lives.
The article I linked to above closes with this:
The truth of the matter is that an objective moral truth exists. Morality is not guided or created by evolution. The human mind is not merely animal or the product of chance.
The enormous leap in evolution necessary for human intelligence attests to this fact. Human life is sacred and should be respected and so should the rest of creation.
God gave us stewardship over creation not to exploit, but to tend it as a servant tends his master’s vineyard.
Well, the actual truth of the matter is even if an “objective moral truth” exists, it doesn’t matter in Christianity because no Christian is actually judged by God according to it. It doesn’t matter if we get wasted and drive a tractor through his vineyard, the Christian god does not punish for such things.
The only way to get God mad enough to punish you is to do one or more of three things. Turn down a job in his vineyard, work in some other vineyard and/or quit working in his vineyard. He gets so furious about those that he’ll imprison and quite possibly torture you – for eternity.
To put it bluntly, the Christian god does not punish for genocide, murder, rape or theft nor any of the other actions we mere humans refer to as being immoral and punish for.
What the Christian god punishes for is disbelief in him, be it implicit (ie, being a practioneer of Judaism) or explicit (ie, we godless atheists).
Where’s the morality in that? I say there is no morality in it and any one who believes such crap is moral needs to shut the hell up about morality.
