Shouldn’t they throw a party?

antichrist Danny Funderburk, mayor of Fort MIll, SC, recently forwarded an email claiming that Obama was the other Christian boogeyman, The Antichrist.  Some folks are utterly shocked that such a thing could happen in this day and age.

Heh.

Christians have a long established tradition of calling people antichrists.  Even Martin Luther couldn’t resist the tug and stated that he felt “much freer now that [he was] certain that the pope was the antichrist”.  Thus began the very long protestant tradition of calling popes antichrists.

Now we have a very popular politician who seems, from the outside looking in, to be surrounded by a personality cult who isn’t just a fire & brimstone pastor in need of a church?

It was just a matter of time before some faithful sheep called him an antichrist, if not The Antichrist.

What’s always gotten me to giggle is how much they fear the antichrist(s).  Most of them seen to believe that once the antichrist shows his face it’s just a matter of time before Jesus makes his second appearance and takes them to their heavenly reward.

That is the point of Christianity isn’t it? To get to heaven?  So why do they fear the antichrist? Why do so many want to stop the antichrist (that is the point of forwarding these emails, to get people to not vote for Obama)?

They should be throwing a party and dancing on the rooftops, eh?
