Something to do

in Atheism

Every so often I get into a cleaning mood, today is that day so that’s what I’ve spent the day doing. Cleaning.  As a Domestic Ringmaster (aka: stay at home mom) I suppose it’s my job anyway, but I enjoy ignoring that part of the deal.

Anyway, here’s something for ya’ll to do. Some professor (via Friendly Atheist) is doing a survey of atheists about coming out of our various closets and I thought I’d pass it along.

On the same subject to a certain degree I’d like to recommend Atheists: A Groundbreaking Study of America’s Nonbelieversby Bruce E. Hunsberger and Bob Altemeyer.  To the best of my knowledge it’s the only book in existence about a study done on American atheists and one I enjoyed immensely as it pisses all over the positive stereotype that we atheists are all tree hugging hippies or to put in the words of one reviewer:

Of the active atheists, he found with great surprise that they can be as dogmatic and close-minded as the staunchest bible-thumping Protestant.

Personally, I ain’t insulted as I find a lot to respect about “the staunchest bible-thumping Protestant[s]“.  Anyone who actually has the courage of their convictions gets an “A” in my class.

Now, it’s back to cleaning for me.  Have a nice “whatever time of day it is for you”.
