John McCain has taken to running a nasty campaign by releasing a series of smear ads aimed at Obama. Yesterday at the national service forum McCain was asked why his campaign has gotten so nasty. His response? Obama made him do it.
Questioned about the tone of the campaign, Sen. McCain insisted he was running an issues-based campaign and put the blame on his opponent for refusing to join him in town hall meetings.
“First of all this is a tough business,” the Arizona senator said. “Second of all, I think the tone of this whole campaign would’ve been very different if Sen. Obama had accepted my request for us to appear at town hall meetings all over America.”
This is where John McCain is at. He’s absolutely obsessed with being POTUS and he doesn’t care how he gets there. People keep saying McCain will be Bush’s third term. I disagree. McCain will be Karl Rove’s third term.
On a related note, here’s a video by Brave New Films countering the attack ads McCain has been putting out.
It’s almost kind of sad. McCain used to be decent enough for a Republican but I guess that’s over and the new message is “DC or Bust”.

"People who advocate freedom, yet deprecate agitation, are people who want crops without plowing the ground. They want rain without the awful roar of the thunder and lightning.
Without struggle, there is no progress. This struggle might be a moral one. It might be a physical one. It might be both moral and physical, but it must be a struggle.
Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. People may not get all that they pay for in this world, but they certainly pay for all that they get." ~ Frederick Douglas
