So it isn’t Christmas, but that’s the kind of mood I’ve been in these last couple of days. Between the poor little persecuted Christians to the Obamabots who hate Hillary more than they support Barack, I’m in a very bad mood. So, here’s one of my favourite songs, Bodies by Drowning Pool.
Bah humbug!

Aw man, I love this song. Shame about Dave Williams, I’ve never even bothered to check out anything the rest of the band’s done since. But this one’s certainly a good’un.
Not all of us hate Hillary without good reason. (It isn’t just because she’s a woman.) I, for one, don’t trust her on the Iran issue, because her choices in Iraq were very poor and she’s already voted to name their guard a terrorist organization, virtually ensuring a war if she’s elected. I also don’t like her policies about first amendment issues, as she’s part of the great censorship brigade when it comes to the media.
But you’re right about one thing: my support for Obama is largely because I think Hillary is the worse choice. I can’t help it, though, that Gravel has no chance of winning and thus I have to choose a lesser evil rather than someone I really support.
Here’s the thing, tagging the Revolutionary Guard as a “terrorist” organization was a move intended to isolate Iran which is something Barack supports if he can’t talk Iran out of going nuclear. He wants the opportunity to bribe them first.
He’s not anti-war and I’m confident that should it get to the point in his administration where he thinks war is necessary – he will go to war. In fact, he’s bluntly stated that he wants to put us on the right battlefields (ie, Afghanistan where Al Queda is regrouping) and pull us off the wrong battlefields (Iraq in general).
Will he bomb Iran? Not as a first option, but I don’t think he will remove the threat from the table since he does appear to be of the opinion that Iran is a threat to the United States and will become a bigger threat if it goes nuclear. IIRC, Hillary also shares this opinion.
As to the censorship stuff, the only thing that comes to mind is the dustup over GTA’s sex scene. Honestly, I think the makers of GTA were asking for it by leaving it in the game. America is obsessed with sex and not in a good way. Sex is dirty, dirty, dirty and nudity is about as bad.
Combine it with blatant acts of violence and you get moralizing politicians talking about how said video game makers are evil deviants and something must be done about them. The answer, IMHO, is not to yell about censorship, but to yell about how showing brutal deaths is okay as long as the victim is clothed and sexless.
Seriously, I was watching a show last night that showed violent deaths including several where the victims had their throats ripped out. During the ruckus one of the characters was shot in the chest. When it came time to stitch him up, the wound was moved to his shoulder socket so us viewers wouldn’t have our poor eyes offended by partial nudity.
It boggles the mind.
Oh, I realize very well that Barack could just as easily go to war with Iran, too. The difference, of course, is that Barack has shown restraint and good judgment in the past with Iraq, whereas Hillary has not. And voting to label Iran’s guard a terrorist organization just bespeaks even more of a lack of restraint. Barack’s decision to try speaking to them first is infinitely more useful than branding them terrorists off the bat. So in my mind, Obama’s the better choice because he doesn’t seem to have his mind set on going to war like Hillary and because he’ll almost certainly use better judgment, given their pasts. I don’t believe America should be in the business of making enemies unless we’ve got really good reason to do so.
