Sexism has plagued Hillary Clinton’s life since Bill was elected back in November 1991. America quickly found out the first “lady” wasn’t a cookie baking dodo bird and it did not like it. Since then there hasn’t been much about Hillary that’s been left un-insulted.
Once it became apparent that Hillary would be running for president herself it was like a dam bursting open. What had once been semi-restrained has since become an everyday thing.
Over the last few months it’s been particularly bad and seems to be getting worse every day with even Barack Obama going for a sexist cheap shot. One of those days was yesterday on MSNBC’s Tucker where David Shuster accused Hillary of “pimping out” Chelsea:
As you can probably guess, Shuster refused to retract the comment and things escalated with Hillary stating that she will pull out of the planned debate on February 29th. Well, that lit a fire under the ass of whoever’s running the show at MSNBC because not only has it released a statement acknowledging the wrongness of Shuster’s comments – Shuster is currently suspended.
This is just a first step, of course, and it remains to be seen how it will play out as the convention gets closer, but that’s how every journey starts – with one step.
