Every life has dignity – except hers

by Karen on January 23, 2008

A federal appeals panel has ruled that the state of Missouri has to provide transportation to abortion clinics for women in custody. Governor Blunt has called the ruling disappointing because Missouri laws “reflect our [Missourians] profound dignity of each and every life.”

Excuse me while I snort.

Enacting laws that require women to remain pregnant against our will is not treating our lives with “dignity”. It’s a complete abrogation of our rights as humans. It is also essentially bestowing “special rights” to others as no one – born or not – has a right to someone else’s body for any reason.

OK, as long as those trips to the abortion clinic aren’t forced.

I kinda doubt the Governor wants to treat female inmates with dignity. Put up or shut up, Gov.
