We’ve heard it a million times in a million different ways. The winners of a blowout football game thank the anointed one for their victory. Actors who win a prestigious award thank the anointed one. Such was the case this past week when the Emmy’s. Celebrity after celebrity thanked the anointed one for their award. Then Kathy Griffin won one for her role in “My Life as a D-list Celebrity”. Ms. Griffin had this to say:
A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus. So, all I can say is, ?Suck it, Jesus.? This award is my God now.
Bill Donahue and his merry band of right wing bigots (aka: Catholic Anti-defamation League) have since went on the attack, demanding that the academy ‘denounce Griffin’s obscene and blasphemous comment’. Why? Because her comment was “vulgar” and “in your face hate speech”.
Interpretation: Bill Donahue thinks everyone should be forced to obey his religion’s edicts.
As for obscenity and vulgarity, perhaps the Bill should pay closer attention to what his comrades are up to these days:
If you look closely you’ll see that that is not Kathy Griffin holding a sign that is a vulgar and obscene attempt to connect everyday Americans with a God inspired attack on the United States. It’s a Christian, one of Bill Donahue’s comrades. Probably one of those who think they’re role models for us godless hordes.
But, then again ole Bill has an established reputation of pretending to be the victim when the LGBT community gets pissed off over the vulgar and obscene remarks he makes regarding them.
Vulgarity? Obscenity? We atheists would have to work around the clock for the next century or two in order to even catch a glimpse of the religious bigots on the next horizon and that’s assuming they stood still and gave us a chance to catch up.
