Louisiana makes abortion a crime

Louisiana legislators have passed a law banning the termination of late term pregnancies. There are no exceptions for the woman’s health. Doctors who make one themselves are subject to arrest. The punishment for acting on the idea that women are entitled to full medical care in all situations is a fine and up to ten years in prison.
Can you say fucked the hell up? Those of the belief that women are life support systems for uteruses that are owned by the men in their lives just effectively made it a fucking crime in the state of Louisiana to value the health and welfare of the woman over the contents of her uterus.
What’s even more annoying is that papers and media outlets are only saying that Governor Blanco hasn’t indicated if she’ll sign it with no reference to the one she signed last year about the same time (html version of SB 33) Called a ‘trigger law’ as it only goes into effect upon the federal termination of civil rights for women, it makes pregnancy termination a crime in most instances.
Governor Blanco thinks it’s acceptable to arrest a doctor for terminating a pregnancy at 12 weeks. How can she not think it’s acceptable to arrest a doctor for terminating a pregnancy at 28 weeks?
As a woman and a mother to a daughter, I’m almost at a loss to describe how frustrated and angry I am about this. As it stands, I’m currently reading a book that insinuates to some degree that as an atheist, the hardest thing I’m ever going to have to explain to my daughter is death.
Bullshit.
The hardest thing I’m ever going to have to explain to her is that a good segment of the population think she is a thing to be bought and sold between men, that a another segment plays along with that idea and that more than a few will act like the sky is falling if she gets a bit “bitchy” about it.
Death ain’t got nothing on that.

This is truly saddening. The fact that the spell out that it doesn’t matter if the mother’s life is at stake is just atrocious. It violates the Hippocratic Oath! When will this end?
