Holy cow.
I don't question the safety of Lybrel at all - see my post <a href="http://ianandoana.com/blog/2007/04/22/pill-that-eliminates-the-period-gets-mixed-reviews/" rel="nofollow">here</a>, with links to the relevant studies.

I wanted in on that conversation in the worst way. So now that the secret agenda, preventing new births, of the drug companies and planned parenthood has been outed I guess they will have to go to plan B. She seemed to be of the belief that we are facing some sort of a crisis level shortage of new babies due to the evils of birth control. The last time I checked the planet was getting a little crowded so my guess is that we're not going to run out of the little bundles of joy any time soon. If only there were a pre-natal test that would determine whether the fetus within would be an idiot like that glassy eyed moron in the yellow suit how great would that be?

When I have the mis-fortune of getting into a conversation with one of these forced maternity types I find that they are never willing to offer any help or solutions for those facing an unwanted pregnancy once the baby arrives. I have also noticed they never seem to be around when those babies and children need food and medical care. Wouldn't that kind of help be pro-life?

On another note, I do question the safety of the Lybrel but for reasons that have nothing to do with any perceived conspiracy to deprive the world of more babies.

Holy crap! I wanted to shake my computer.

What I love most about the clip is that the Fox moderator didn't step in and challenge any of Leslie's nonsense -- or even her outright lies. The drug company that makes the new pill should sue her for slander.

By the way, if it's a gift to be able to have children, who did that gift come from? Was it packaged in a nice box, with a pretty bow? And--if it's merely a gift, rather than a compulsory action mandated by the state-- why shouldn't a person be able to exchange it for a different item? I don't always keep every present I get, and nobody forces me to carry stuff around inside my body.

Like you, KC, I'm fascinated by the attitude that if you're a teenage girl and you screw around, you ought to be punished by a forced maternity. Nice, loving religion, eh? It all goes back to that stupid apple-eating contest, doesn't it? But what if the serpent had been pushing beef jerky instead of fruit.
