Humans behaving very very badly
Earlier this morning I read this post by Brian Switek about the slaughtering of rattlesnakes here in Texas. I thought that was bad until I came across this post by PZ Myers about this video (warning: extremely graphic depiction of dolphins suffering agonizing deaths). Even though I spent some of my childhood on a farm and have participated in a bird hunt or two, I am disgusted by the humans involved in both cases. It’s not the death as killing another animal is never neat and never painless no matter how many times we repeat that to ourselves.
No, it’s the senseless brutality that is inherent in these kind of things. Killing another animal should not be a family outing like it is with the rattlesnake slaughter. And the animal should not be tortured like the dolphins in the video above who are shown being dragged behind trucks while (seemingly) still alive (and that’s as humane as it gets in that video).
There is no other words for these actions besides “callous”, “brutal” and “plain fucking evil”.

I can’t even completely read what you wrote about the dolphins, that’s how upsetting it is to me. However, I have to comment on it.
The filth who do things like that know that they are causing suffering, and they enjoy it. They certainly don’t take delight in dragging lampshades down the road because lampshades can’t suffer.
The longer I live, the more I hate my own species.
