Amanda Marcotte of Pandagon has resigned from the John Edwards campaign after being smeared by Bill Donahue as being anti-Cathoic after a certain blogger started the frenzy after being unable to use a search function correctly. What made her an anti-Catholic bigot in Bill’s eyes? She hasn’t minced any words when it came to the Catholic church’s anti-women policies nor is she as respectful of religion as the religionists would have her be. Oh, and she cusses too. We gals ain’t supposed to do that, ya know?
What’s most amusing is the nasty assed comments Amanda has recieved since Bill inserted himself as the leader of the smear campaign:

Now, let me get this straight. It’s very very bad to publicly disagree Christian beliefs and policies, but writing a woman and telling her she’s a filthy mouthed slut who ought to be fucked into compliance or if that fails to do the trick, she should be raped and beaten until she realizes just how great she has it here in America with all these Christian boys.

And though it seems that Bill Donahue and his crew of truly misogynic and bigoted harpies may have won the battle, it’s possible that we may be able to win the war. The Catholic League is a 501(c)(3) organization that is based in New York and is by law restricted from sticking it’s nose in politics. This blatant push to force former Senator Edwards into firing Amanda lest he be tagged the Anti-Catholic candidate may just be enough to get the organization investigated at least.
