Why is that liberal religious folk think the conservatives are the ones giving religion a bad rep? Take for example this clip over on Beware of the Dogma where there was an apparent dustup in the UK over a British Muslim issuing fatwas on people. Why? The fatwa author was giving Islam a bad reputation.
How in heck does one give a bad name to a genre of thought (religion) that has a long history of killing anyone that doesn’t agree with it? The Jews brag about their genocidal wars against other groups in the Old Testament. The Christians built an empire on the broken and bloody backs of Jews, Pagans, Muslims and less powerful Christian sub-groups. I’m not too sure about Islamic history, but I’d wager they’ve done the same as their cousins the Christians.
It’s impossible to misrepresent these specific three branches of the god-tree unless one wants to insist they’re peaceful when the record clearly indicates that such a description is very very far from being even remotely accurate.
